Ramsey County, Minnesota Inmate Search

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail in Ramsey County, Minnesota, known as the Adult Detention Center. The office also maintains an online inmate list that is updated frequently with the most recent booking information. These reports, available both while an individual is in jail and for a brief period after release, include individuals in custody, along with information on charges and court records.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections, which oversees state prisons, does not operate county jails like this one; Ramsey County has no federal Bureau of Prisons facilities. Instead, the Minnesota DOC offender locator would be used to locate state convicts (those serving long-term jail sentences).

The main city in Ramsey County is Saint Paul, which is also home to the Saint Paul Police Department. Maplewood, another populated city in the county, is served by the Maplewood Police Department. The county roster is the primary public jail search in this area, while larger municipal police agencies may also maintain their own arrest/jail lists.

An inmate search usually consists of:

  • Name of inmate and date of booking
  • Present custody situation
  • Charges presented
  • Numbers of court cases and occasionally forthcoming court dates
  • arresting organization or arrest site.

How to Find an Inmate in Ramsey County Jail

To find an inmate in the Ramsey County Jail (officially the Adult Detention Center), there are a few options to consider, and these include:

  • Use the Online Adult Detention Center (Jail) Roster : The "Inmates In-Custody (Booking Reports)" portal is updated by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office with the names of those currently being held in the jail. Recent arrests, charges, court case information, and bookings are displayed on this roster. It contains information both during the person’s incarceration and for a short period following their release, and it is updated every 30 minutes throughout the day. This is a public page where one can search by name.
  • Search Statewide or National Resources: Systems like the Minnesota VINE (Victim Information & Notification Everyday) offer statewide inmate tracking, which may include Ramsey County bookings, if the online county roster is inaccessible.
  • Give the jail a call: To verify custody status, requesters can call the correctional facility at 651-266-9350 and give the inmate’s full name or birthdate.
  • Inquire in person: If an internet search proves fruitless, in-person queries are welcome in the jail’s public lobby. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office operates this facility, handling bookings and custody for those arrested in the county who are awaiting court appearances.

  • The user will then be redirected to the roster page, which contains a dashboard that is defaulted to display all the individuals who have been incarcerated in the Detention Center.

What Information is Included in the Ramsey County Inmate Roster

The Ramsey County inmate roster provides basic booking and custody details for people currently held at the Adult Detention Center. The information that appears when a user searches the roster typically includes the full name, age, date of booking, number of days incarcerated, and, for those who have been released, the release date. It also typically includes a unique booking number that is used to identify that individual in the jail system. Additionally, users would find information about arrest charges, charge IDs, and arrest charge levels.

The roster also contains judicial information such as court scheduling details, including case number, court date and time, address, case type, courtroom number, and hearing status.

It should be noted by users that not all information is available to the public. Records about minors, specific medical or mental health information, and data about ongoing investigations may be restricted or excluded (Minn. Stat. § § 13.85, 13.82). How to Send Money to an Inmate in the Adult Detention Center (ADC)?

The Ramsey County Adult Detention Center (ADC) creates an inmate account in the name of the convict upon their booking. The inmate can use this account to buy extras like snacks, soda, candies, stamps, and haircuts by using the money they had at booking. The detainee alone has access to account details. Any money left over is paid out by check or debit card after the inmate’s account is closed upon their release. In addition to closing the account, a check is written if the convict is moved to another prison.

Three methods are available for friends and family to deposit money:

  • Online: By opening an account and browsing for the prisoner, deposits can be made using TurnKey Corrections. Online deposits are credited in a matter of minutes and come with a service charge. Although deposits cannot be made over the phone, 715-690-2965 is the number for support.
  • Lobby Kiosk: Cash and credit card deposits are accepted around-the-clock at a kiosk located in the ADC lobby at 425 Grove Street, Saint Paul, MN 55101. There is no cost for cash deposits; there is one for credit card deposits.
  • Mail: The ADC may receive cashier’s cheques or money orders made payable to the detainee. Personal checks and cash are not accepted; they will be returned.

Finally, keep in mind that there are limitations. For example, only convicts have access to their accounts at Ramsey County ADC. Deposits may be made by mail (using only cashier’s checks or money orders), at the lobby kiosk, or via the internet. Personal checks and cash are not accepted. Upon release or transfer, accounts close, and any money left over is paid out by check or debit card. There are spending caps.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

In Ramsey County, searches for inmates are arranged by institution because every jail facility keeps its own records. One can browse the Adult Detention Center’s (ADC) public online roster of currently detained adults by name or booking number via the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to having a separate public search (using the inmate’s first and last name as search criteria), the Ramsey County Correctional Facility (RCCF), which houses convicted adults, also allows direct contact for account or custody information.

Although juvenile records are limited and not publicly accessible, the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) maintains its own roster; requests must be directed to the facility’s administration. Information about each facility can be obtained by calling the main office or by visiting the locations in person.
